The John Deere 4430 is a 2WD or 4WD row-crop tractor from the Generation II series. This tractor was manufactured by John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, USA from 1973 to 1977.
The John Deere 4430 row-crop tractor used the John Deere diesel engine. It is a 6.6 L, 6,620 cm2, (404 cu·in) six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 108.0 mm (4.25 in) of the cylinder bore and 120.0 mm (4.72 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 15.1:1. The John Deere motor used a direct injection fuel system, a dry-type air cleaner with the secondary element, ether injection pre-heating system and Delco-Remy electric starter. This engine produced 144 PS (106 KW; 142 HP) of maximum output power.
The JD 4430 is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, full-power wet disc differential brakes, open operator station, ROPS or Sound Gard body, and the cab was available as an option.
The John Deere 4430 tractor used one of three transmissions:
- John Deere Syncro-Range: partially synchronized transmission and Perma-Clutch with double wet disc (8 forward and 2 reverse gears)
- John Deere Quad-Range: partial power shift transmission and Perma-Clutch with double wet disc (16 forward and 6 reverse gears)
- John Deere Power Shift: full power shift transmission with wet disc clutch (8 forward and 2 reverse gears)
Following attachments are available for JD 4430 tractor:
- John Deere 148 loader
- John Deere 158 loader
