The Ford 4000 is a 2WD utility tractor. This is the second gereration manufactured by Ford in Highland Park, Michigan, USA from 1965 to 1967. The first generation was manufactured from 1965 to 1967, the third generation from 1968 to 1975.
The Ford 4000 is equipped with one of three engines: a 3.1 L three-cylinder gasoline / LP-gas engine or 3.3 L three-cylinder diesel engine and one of two transmissions: the Dual Range transmission with 8 forward and 2 reverse gears or the Select-O-Speed transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse gears.
The Ford 4000 used hydraulic power steering, mechanical wet disc brakes, open operator station and 60.5 liters (16.0 US gal.; 13.3 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:
- Ford gasoline / LP-gas engine. It is a 3.1 L, 3,146 cm2, (192.0 cu·in) three-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine with 112.0 mm (4.41 in) of the cylinder bore and 107.0 mm (4.21 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 8.0:1 for gasolione version.
- Ford diesel engine. It is a 3.3 L, 3,294 cm2, (201.0 cu·in) three-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 111.8 mm (4.4 in) and the piston stroke is 111.8 mm (4.4 in). The compression ratio rating is 16.5:1.
