The Ford 6640 is a 2WD/4WD utility tractor from the PowerStar 40 series. This tractor was manufactured by Ford in Basildon, England from 1991 to 1995. The Ford 6640 is equipped with a 5.0 L (304.0 cu·in) four-cylinder diesel engine and one of four transmission variants. This tractor was available in three versions: the 6640S – economy version with 8-speed transmission, 6640SL – version with 12-speed transmission or the 6640SLE – premium version with 16-speed transmission.
The Ford 6640 utility tractor used the Ford Genesis engine. It is a 5.0 L, 4,982 cm2, (304.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine with 112.0 mm (4.41 in) of the cylinder bore and 127.0 mm (5 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 17.5:1. This engine produced 91.9 PS (67.6 kW; 90.7 HP) at 2,200 rpm of output power and 457.0 N·m (46.6 kg·m, 336.8 ft·lb) at 1,200 rpm of torque.
The Ford 6640 is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, mechanical (S) or hydraulic wet disc (SL/SLE) brakes, and 94.6 liters (25 US gal.; 20.8 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
