The Cub Cadet RZT 42 is a 2WD zero-turn mower from the RZT series. This tractor was manufactured by Cub Cadet (a part of MTD) from 2005 to 2012.
This version with Kohles engine was manufactured from 2006 to 2012. The Cub Cadet RZT 42 is equipped with the Kohler gasoline engine and a hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears.

- Kohler SV600 (2008-2010). It is a 0.6 L, 596 cm2, (36.4 cu·in) single-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine. The cylinder bore is 94.0 mm (3.7 in) and the piston stroke is 86.0 mm (3.39 in). This engine produced 20.3 PS (14.9 kW; 20.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of output power.
- Kohler SV715 (2011-2012). It is a 0.7 L, 725 cm2, (44.2 cu·in) V-twin natural aspirated gasoline engine. The cylinder bore is 83.0 mm (3.27 in) and the piston stroke is 67.0 mm (2.64 in). This engine produced 22.3 PS (16.4 KW; 22.0 HP) at 3,600 rpm of output power.
