The Ford 4000 is a 2WD utility tractor. The first generation of this tractor was manufactured by Ford in Highland Park, Michigan, USA from 1962 to 1965. The Ford 4000 is equipped with a 2.8 L four-cylinder engine and one of four variants of the transmission. The second generation was manufactured from 1965 to 1967 and the third from 1968 to 1975.
The Ford 4000 utility tractor used the Ford engine. It is a 2.8 L, 2,819 cm2, (172.0 cu·in) four-cylinder natural aspirated engine with 99.0 mm (3.9 in) of the cylinder bore and 91.0 mm (3.58 in) of the piston stroke. This engine had variants for diesel, gasoline, and LP-gas fuel. The compression ratio rating is 7.5:1 for gasoline version, 16.8:1 for diesel and 8.65:1 for LP-gas. The gasoline version produced 55.8 PS (41.0 kW; 55.0 HP) at 2,200 rpm of output power.
The Ford 4000 is equipped with manual steering for utility version or power steering for row-crop version, open operator station and 64.3 liters (17 US gal.; 14.1 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
