The John Deere 730 is a 2WD row-crop tractor from the Two-Cylinder 30 series. This tractor was manufactured by John Deere in Rosario, Argentina from 1961 to 1971. When the JD 730 production ended at Waterloo (this tractor was manufactured in US from 1958 to 1961) the tooling for the this tractor was moved to Argentina. This tractor model were built in row-crop, standard, and high-crop variants.
The John Deere 730 is equipped with one of two engines: a 5.9 L (360.5 cu·in) two-cylinder gasoline engine or a 6.2 L (376.0 cu·in) two-cylinder diesel engine and unsynchronized gear transmission with 6 forward and 1 reverse gear.
The tractor could be equipped with the following engines:
- John Deere. It is a 5.9 L, 5,907 cm2, (360.5 cu·in) two-cylinder natural aspirated gasoline engine with 152.0 mm (5.98 in) of the cylinder bore and 162.0 mm (6.38 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 6.14:1.
- John Deere. It is a 6.2 L, 6,161 cm2, (376.0 cu·in) two-cylinder natural aspirated diesel engine. The cylinder bore is 156.0 mm (6.14 in) and the piston stroke is 162.0 mm (6.38 in). The compression ratio rating is 16.0:1.
The John Deere 730 is equipped with manual or power (optional) steering, differential mechanical drum brakes, an open operator station, and 100.3 liters (26.5 US gal.; 22.1 Imp. gal) fuel tank for gasoline version or 75.7 liters (20.0 US gal.; 16.7 Imp. gal) for the diesel version.
