The John Deere X520 is a lawn and garden tractor from the John Deere X-series. The John Deere X520 garden tractor was produced from 2006 to 2008.
This tractor used the Kawasaki FD731V vertical engine. The Kawasaki FD731V is a 675 cc, 41.20 cu-in V-twin 90° liquid-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline motor with a vertical shaft. The FD731V has OHV (overhead V-valves) design; cast-iron cylinder liners; twin-barrel, internally vented carburetor with fuel shut-off solenoid; electronic spark ignition system. It has a 72.5 mm (2.85 in) cylinder bore and 76 mm (2.99 in) piston stroke. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The Kawasaki FD731V produced 26 HP (19.4 kW) at 3,600 rpm.
The John Deere X520 lawn tractor is equipped with the Kanzaki K72B hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse), foot-activated differential lock, and manual sector-and-pinion steering. This tractor used open operator station, independent PTO-shaft with electric clutch and 18.9 L (5.0 US gal.) fuel tank.
The John Deere X520 garden tractor used mid-mount John Deere 54X (Edge Xtra Mower) – 1,370 mm (54 in) mower deck with 3-blade and with manual spring-assisted lift.
