The John Deere X728 is a four-wheel-drive (4WD) lawn and garden tractor from the John Deere X-series. The John Deere X728 garden tractor is produced at the John Deere Horicon Works plant (Horicon, Wisconsin, USA) from 2006 to 2012.
The John Deere X728 lawn tractor used the Kawasaki FD750D EFI engine. The Kawasaki FD750D DFI is a 0.75 l (745 cc, 45.46 cu-in) V-twin 90° liquid-cooled 4-stroke internal combustion small gasoline motor with horizontal shaft. The FD711D DFI has OHV (overhead valve design); cast-iron cylinder liners; multi-port digital fuel injection; high-pressure transistorized fuel pump; flywheel magneto transistor ignition system. Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 78.0 mm (3.07 in) and 78.0 mm (3.07 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 8.5:1. The Kawasaki FD750D EFI produced 27.0 HP (21.1 kW) at 3,600 rpm.
The John Deere X728 tractor is equipped with the Tuff Torq K92 two-pedal foot control shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission (infinite forward and reverse), wet disk brakes, power steering. This tractor used open operator station and 24.6 L (6.5 US gal) or 19.7 L (5.2 US gal) after 2011.
