The New Holland 7740 is a 2WD or 4WD row-crop tractor from the PowerStar 40 series. This tractor was manufactured by New Holland in Basildon, England from 1996 to 1997. The NH 7740 is equipped with a 5.0 L (304.0 cu·in) four-cylinder diesel engine and one of four transmission variants.
The New Holland 7740 row-crop tractor used the Ford Genesis engine. It is a 5.0 L, 4,982 cm2, (304.0 cu·in) four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 112.0 mm (4.41 in) of the cylinder bore and 127.0 mm (5.0 in) of the piston stroke. The compression ratio rating is 17.5:1. This engine produced 101.7 PS (74.8 kW; 100.3 HP) at 2,100 rpm of output power.
The HN 7740 is equipped with hydrostatic power steering, mechanical (7740S) or hydraulic wet disc (7740SL/SLE) brakes, and 94.6 liters (25 US gal.; 20.8 Imp. gal) fuel tank.
